"Buyer, Be Fair" Film Screening
The screening of "Buyer, Be Fair" drew a diverse crowd of 50 people to the ATA Theater in the Mission District of San Francisco on Sunday. The filmmaker was in the audience to answer questions, as well as two coffee farmers from a Fair Trade Coop in Peru. The movie covered two topics: Fair Trade Certification to improve the lives of coffee farmers, and FSC certification of wood to halt the destruction of old growth forests. While most of the audience had heard of Fair Trade coffee, most people were not aware of FSC wood. Even audience members who just walked in off the street randomly were prepared to ask tough questions and play devil's advocate in the Q&A session with the filmmaker.
